The Promoter is Global Poverty Project, Inc d/b/a Global Citizen of 740 Broadway, Suite 400, New York, NY 10003, United States of America (“Promoter”).
By entering the 2024 Youth Leaders Award (the “Competition”), entrants accept these Terms & Conditions of entry. Entries must comply with these Terms and Conditions to be valid.
Entry to this Competition is open to entrants aged eighteen (18) years of age to entrants aged thirty (30) by February 29, 2024 (“Entrant”). Entry is open only to citizens of Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Cook Islands, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kiribati, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nauru, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Vietnam, and except where this Competition is void where prohibited. This competition excludes employees and their immediate families of the Promoter and its sponsors and their collective related companies; and individuals or organizations from any country or entity subject to financial or other sanctions by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) or other government entity of Australia that may restrict the transfer of the Award (defined below). To enter the Competition, entrants must follow the instructions at https://globalcitizen.org/programs/youth-leaders. Entries must be submitted between 9:00AM AEST September 2nd, 2023 and 5:00 PM AEST on October 5th, 2023 (“Entry Period”). Entries must be received by Promoter during the Entry Period. Entries received after October 5th, 2023 will not be accepted. Entries will be judged based on individual merit and organizational strength in advancing one or more of the United Nation Global Goals for Sustainable Development (“Global Goals”), based on the following five (5) criteria:
Impact: Demonstrated track-record of measurable impact at scale over the last 1-5 years advancing one or more of the Global Goals.
Vision: Compelling vision and concrete plans for how to extend this work in the next 3-5 years, including how the prize will advance efforts.
Catalyst: Inspires other young people to have an impact on achieving one or more of the Global Goals.
Global Citizenship: Demonstrates the values and embodies the spirit of a global citizen and a global problem solver.
Collaboration: proven history of working collaboratively with and through other organisations to achieve change.
Judging will take place in November/December 2023 at Promoter’s offices.
Between thirty (30) and fifty (50) award finalists shall be selected by Promoter (each, an “Award Finalist”; collectively, the “Award Finalists”), with each being selected as an award winner for the Competition consisting of a cash award in the amount of five-thousand Australian dollars ($5,000 AUD) (the “Award”). The Award Finalists will be selected by the Promoter in Promoter’s sole discretion based on the criteria set forth in section 3 herein, with consideration of the opinions of external judges (selected by Promoter in Promoter’s sole discretion).
In addition to the Award, Promoter will pay the following for each Award Finalist:
return economy airfares to the 2024 Global Citizen event in Melbourne, with the flight originating from the Award Finalist’s nearest capital city;
hotel accommodation for the attendance of the 2024 Global Citizen event (total duration of hotel accommodation shall be a minimum of four (4) nights, to be determined as between Global Citizen and Award Finalist);
If applicable, a per diem of one hundred Australian dollars ($100 AUD) per day for approximately four (4) days;
ground transportation to and from event(s) hosted by Promoter, where the attendance of the Award Finalists is required as a condition of accepting the Award;
If applicable, visa processing fees for the Award Finalists not exceeding five hundred Australian dollars ($500 AUD) in total to be reimbursed to the Award Finalist following Promoter’s receipt of an invoice detailing said fees.
The approximate aggregate value of the expenses outlined in section 6 above is three thousand two hundred Australian dollars ($3,200 AUD) provided, however, that said value may change depending on, inter alia, Award Finalist’s location, point of departure, and time of travel.
To be eligible to win an Award, the Award Finalists each must:
be available to attend in person a Global Citizen event in Melbourne, Australia during the first week of March 2024;
hold a valid passport and be responsible for obtaining any requisite visas required, with Global Citizen to provide assistance securing any required visas, as needed. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, you must maintain and follow all suggested and/or required procedures by local authorities, World Health Organization, and the Center for Disease Control (our local equivalent) while traveling;
agree to media interviews and appearances for a period of two (2) years, and grant rights to the Promoter, and third parties nominated by the Promoter to use the name, likeness and related content in the Promoter, or nominated third party marketing campaigns and on the Promoter, or nominated third party-owned platforms.
Promoter will not be liable for any expenses other than expressly outlined above, including, without limitation, costs for passports, insurance, transport to and from departure point, additional transfers, items of a personal nature, in-room charges and all other ancillary costs. Furthermore, Promoter shall not be liable, the Award Finalists hereby release Promoter from any liability for each said parties inability to obtain the requisite entry documents to travel to the Competition. The Finalist must depart from and return to the same departure point. Itineraries are to be determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion. For the avoidance of doubt, Promoter shall adhere to all suggested and/or required procedures by local authorities, World Health Organization, and the Center for Disease Control (our local authorities).
The Award Finalists will be notified of their status via email on or around December2023/January 2024. The Award Finalists will be selected at Promoter’s offices on or around December2023/January 2024. The Award Finalists will remain confidential and announced at a time and place in Promoter’s absolute discretion. The Award Winner is advised that tax implications may arise from their Award winning and may wish to seek independent financial advice prior to the acceptance of the Award .
This Competition is a game of skill and as such, the winner is selected based on the criteria set out in these terms.The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with the Award except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
The Award Finalist is advised that tax implications may arise from their Award winning and may wish to seek independent financial advice prior to the acceptance of the Award .
Each Entrant grants Promoter and third parties nominated by Promoter the right to use said Entrant’s name, city, and other information as contained in the entry application for publicity and Competition purposes and to generally promote the charitable endeavors and mission of Promoter, without compensation.
The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with the Award except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
As part of accepting the Award, the Awardee shall sign an agreement with Promoter memorializing their acceptance of the Award.
Each Entrant's personal information ("PI") is collected to enable the Promoter to administer and promote this Competition. The PI of each Entrant may be provided to third parties who are assisting the Promoter, including suppliers, deliverers and authorities that regulate competitions and other third parties nominated by Promoter. Entrants who fail to provide all requested PI, may be determined by the Promoter, at its sole discretion, to be ineligible to win an Award . Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter's discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights. The collection, use and disclosure of personal information provided in connection with this promotion is further governed by the Promoter Privacy Policy. Entrants may access, change and/or update their PI and obtain a copy of Promoter’s privacy policy online at https://www.globalcitizen.org/en/about/privacy-policy/ or by contacting Promoter.
The Promoter assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, corruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of, entries. The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer networks and systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by the Promoter on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination of them, including any injury or damage to any entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Competition.
This Competition is governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the state of Victoria, Australia and by entering the Competition. Eligible Entrants consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the state of Victoria.
The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardize the fair and proper conduct of the Competition. The Promoter’s legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.
If for any reason the Competition is not capable of running as planned, including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter, which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness or integrity or proper conduct of this Competition, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process or Competition, or to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition.
Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel or postpone the Competition and recommence it from the start on the same conditions herein at a later date for occurrence of any of the following: technical failure in operating the Competition; fire; threat(s) or act(s) of terrorism; riot(s) or other form(s) of civil disorder in, around, or near the Competition location or venue; strike, lockout, or other forms of labor difficulties; any act, order, rule, or regulation of any court, government agency, or public authority; act of God; failure of technical facilities not caused by Promoter’s acts or omissions; adverse weather conditions; and/or any similar or dissimilar cause beyond Promoter's reasonable control.
If Entrant does not agree to these Terms & Conditions of entry, then the Entrant must not submit an entry.
Promoter reserves the right to revise these Terms & Conditions of entry at any time by updating these Terms & Conditions of entry on the Promoter's website ("Updated Terms"). Promoter will notify any Entrant who has already submitted an entry of the Updated Terms by email. If Entrant does not agree to the Updated Terms, Entrant may contact the Promoter to withdraw Entrant's submission within 5 days of receiving notification of the Updated Terms.
