Women and girls in conflict settings are more likely to die due to lack of access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). Yet, they are often neglected. Gender-based violence, unsafe abortions, and inadequate obstetric care are among the main concerns related to SRHR in crisis contexts.
Access to SRHR is further restricted in humanitarian settings, due to lockdowns and other barriers like reduced mobility and social distancing, hindering access to health facilities. Additionally, the systems and institutions that normally provide SRHR services are weakened or destroyed by crises, resulting in inadequate service delivery.
UNFPA works to support women and girls have access to essential health care, protection from violence, and the ability to exercise their reproductive rights, even amid crises. Global leaders must fund UNFPA to protect the rights of women and children in crisis contexts.
Leave your message to global leaders urging them to fund UNFPA’s urgent humanitarian appeal to get life-saving support to women and girls in crisis.
