The new Sustainable Development Goals were the subject of arguably the largest children's consultation in history. Child-focused agencies, including World Vision, facilitated a series of consultations in about 40 countries to find out exactly what children believed was necessary to improve their lives. During these gatherings, children were asked to create their own top five goals.

1. End Hunger – “Because if children are hungry, they can’t concentrate in class.”

2. Water – “Water is vital to life. Without water, no one will live.”
