As a Global Citizen, I am very worried about the global education crisis -  57 million children are out of primary school, 69 million children are out of secondary school, and 250 million more aren't learning the basics in school at all. Without an education, children around the world are denied the right to achieve their full potential, and are left vulnerable to being forced into work and subjected to violence. I am writing to ask your support to tackle this crisis by continuing the UK’s support to the Global Partnership for Education (GPE).

I am proud of the UK’s place as a global leader in funding education; your past commitment to contributing around a quarter of the Global Partnership’s overall budget has helped get millions of children into school.  It is vital that the UK continues this level of support by committing £525 million over the next four years . The UK government must also maintain its own direct aid to education, which is changing millions of lives in the poorest countries.

We need the UK to make an early global announcement of this commitment to send a clear message to other countries of the need to commit funding to this vital organisation.
