Train, the band behind popular early-aughts hits such as "Drops of Jupiter," is calling on fans to take action to end COVID-19.
The band shared a heartfelt, socially distanced performance of their 2003 song “Calling All Angels" on Monday as part of the "Together At Home" campaign and virtual concert series. The five band members harmonized on vocals and played their instruments from their respective homes alongside a slideshow of photos and footage celebrating essential workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 fight.
Frontman Patrick Monahan said in a video message that the song pays tribute to “everyone who is risking their lives basically to help us."
“I’m practicing my social distancing here, but I want to give you a chance to have a voice as well, so please go to globalcitizen.org/coronavirus and we can end this pandemic ASAP," he said.
Global Citizen, the World Health Organization (WHO), and a group of dedicated celebrities helped launch "Together At Home" on March 16. Every day since, John Legend, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, Gloria Gaynor, and more have all volunteered their time to perform, unite the world, and combat loneliness while social distancing to help stop COVID-19.
Many more artists are slated to perform in the days to come. And earlier on Monday, Global Citizen and the WHO announced the One World: Together At Home global special premiering Saturday, April 18, curated in collaboration with Lady Gaga and hosted by Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert.
The special will feature an array of artists, comedians, and more broadcasting from their homes in support of the WHO's Solidarity Response Fund and celebrating the frontline workers saving lives around the world. You can learn more about the global special here.
Following their performance, Train shared a message in the video: “Thank you to our doctors, nurses, health care workers, first responders, scientists, public health experts, food service workers, pharmacists, firefighters, police officers, and everyone helping to fight the COVID-19 pandemic."
