Period Heroes are non-profit organizations and people across the globe that work to end period poverty in their communities. They help by providing access to period products in places like schools, shelters and community centers while taking action to reduce period stigma by educating those around them about this important issue.
New York, NY
Founded by Chantal Alison-Konteh, Her Village Inc. provides critical essentials including period supplies to over 200 families across New York City's five boroughs each month. As a child, Chantal was raised to embrace menstruation, which fueled her desire to equip parents with the knowledge and resources they need to have real, open & honest conversations with their children at puberty. Her Village Inc. believes that stigma, shame & a lack of resources shouldn't hinder a child's ability to attend school.
