Do you live and breathe ENERGY and SUSTAINABILITY? Want to be at the forefront of REAL, lasting change?  

We’re on the hunt for the game-changers, the innovators, the BIG ENERGY thinkers who are ready to tackle climate change head-on and scale renewables across Africa.  

Global Citizen is calling all young Africans (18-35) with a fire in their belly for sustainability, a knack for collaboration, and a track record in energy, environmental policy, or grassroots action.  

Is this you?

  • Got the know-how on renewable energy?  
  • A natural collaborator with a passion for community impact?  
  • Skilled in campaigns, digital marketing, public speaking, or policy?  
  • Ready to roll up your sleeves and mobilize communities?  
  • A connector who can build partnerships with private and government sectors?  
  • A sharp market researcher with a vision for the future?  

Here’s the deal: 

  • Full-time commitment from March 3, 2025, to December 15, 2025 (10 months).  
  • Must have a valid passport and be ready to travel to South Africa if needed.  
  • Fluent in English.  

This isn’t just a job — it’s a movement. You’ll be working on one of Global Citizen’s groundbreaking campaigns, driving change, and shaping the future of energy in Africa.

Eligibility

  • Ages 18-35 (by time of application)
  • African residents
  • Applicants with a tertiary education preferred
  • Applicants should be able to prove that they are active Global Citizens, either through the work they do in their communities or through Global Citizen’s website and/or app (Google Play Store OR App Store
  • Applicants should be available full-time from 25th February 2025 till December 15th 2025
  • Should you be selected kindly note that you will be required to be available for training from 25th-28th February 2025. Details on training to follow. 
  • Those from minority and underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply

How to Apply

Submit a 2-3 minute video, or 500-700 word essay answering the following questions: 

  • What qualities do you identify with as an active citizen of the world? 
  • If selected, what lasting change would you like to achieve through the program?
  • How would you contribute to developing cost-effective, sustainable energy solutions that are essential for driving the continent’s socio-economic development?

Will there be an orientation?

Yes. There will be a virtual orientation week for accepted Fellows, from 25th February-28th February 2025. Details will be sent with the acceptance letter.
