2023 Global Citizen Fellowship Program
Terms and Conditions

  1. The Promoter is Global Poverty Project, Inc d/b/a Global Citizen of 740 Broadway, Suite 400, NY NY 10003, United States of America (“Promoter”). 
  2. By entering the 2023 Curtis Fellowship Award (the “Competition”), Entrants (as defined below) accept these Terms & Conditions of entry.
  3. Entry to this Competition is open to individuals (“Entrant(s)”) that: 
    1. are 18-21 years of age at the time of submitting an application for the Competition; 
    2. are a legal resident in South Africa; 
    3. have limited travel experiences; and
    4. have a family household income of under R 120,000
  4. To enter the Competition, Entrants must follow the instructions at https://www.globalcitizen.org/en/programs/fellowship-vitalogy/. Entries must be submitted between 9:00 AM SAST on 18 September 2023 and 11:59 PM SAST on 29 September 2023. Promoter will select, in its sole discretion, up to five (5) Entrants for the Program and the Award (“Fellow(s)”).  Promotor will select Fellows on individual creativity and merit of their answers to the following questions:
    1. What qualities do you identify with as an active citizen of the world? 
    2. If selected, what lasting change would you like to achieve through the program?
    3. What specific socio-economic issues are you taking action on and why? 
  5. The award consists of (“Award”):
    1. Weekly activities coordinated by Promoter that focus on professional development, personal growth, advocacy, cultural exposure, social justice, and equity during or around October 2023 to October 2024 (the “Program”); 
    2. Any other activities coordinated by Promoter, at Promoter’s sole discretion.
  6. Promoter may pay for the following for each Finalist:
    1. If travel permits, a round trip economy airfare to any of the identified learning experiences by the Promoter
    2. If applicable, all trip-related meals to any of the identified learning experiences by the Promoter
    3. If applicable, other trip related expenses at the Promoter’s sole discretion.
  7. Finalists will be selected by Promoter at 155 West Street, Santon on or around October 27th 2023. Promotor will contact each Finalist by email or phone within five (5) business days of selection and will be announced on the Promoter website by October 29th 2023
  8. This Competition is a game of skill and as such, the Fellows are selected based on the creativity and merit of entries submitted.
  9. All Entrants grant Promoter the right to use said Entrant’s name, city, and other information as contained in the entry application for publicity and Competition purposes and to generally promote the charitable endeavors and mission of Promoter, without compensation.
  10. Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with the Competition or the Award  except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
  11. As a condition of accepting the Award, each Fellow must sign any legal documentation as and in the form required by Promoter, including but not limited to a legal release and indemnity form.
  12. Each Entrant's personal information ("PI") is collected to enable Promoter to administer and promote this Competition and the Fellows. The PI of each Fellow may be provided to third parties who are assisting the Promoter, including Award suppliers, deliverers and authorities that regulate competitions. Entrants who fail to provide all requested PI, may be determined by Promoter, at its sole discretion, to be ineligible to win the Award. Errors and omissions may be accepted at Promoter's discretion. Failure by Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.  The collection, use and disclosure of personal information provided in connection with this Competition is further governed by Promoter’s Privacy Policy. 
  13. Promoter assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, corruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of, entries. Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer networks and systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Promoter on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination of them, including any injury or damage to any Entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Competition.
  14. The Competition will be governed by the laws of the State of New York and subject to the jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts residing in New York County, New York. 
  15. Promoter reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to disqualify any individual who Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardize the fair and proper conduct of the Competition. The Promoter’s legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.
  16.  If for any reason the Competition is not capable of running as planned, including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of Promoter, which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness or integrity or proper conduct of this competition, Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process or to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition.  
  17. While participating in the Program and any aspect of the Award, Fellows are expected to follow any and all COVID instructions or regulations of GC and/or any applicable governments.
  18. Prior to Fellows being notified of such status by Promoter, Promoter may cancel, postpone, modify, or otherwise terminate the Competition in Promoter’s sole and absolute discretion. In the case of the intervention of any outside agent or event which naturally changes the result or prevents or hinders its determination, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strikes; Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the Competition and/or recommence it from the start on the same or different conditions at a later date.
