L'épidémie de Mpox met en lumière de manière flagrante les inégalités en matière de santé mondiale et souligne l'urgence d'une coopération internationale efficace. Si la communauté mondiale avait agi plus tôt et avec détermination, cette épidémie aurait pu être freinée et vaincue. Malgré les alertes précoces, la crise s'est intensifiée, révélant un besoin crucial de vaccins et de ressources en Afrique.
La France, l’Espagne, l’Allemagne, le Japon et la Commission européenne ont commencé à répondre et le système multilatéral se mobilise. Néanmoins, nous devons collectivement mettre en place des mécanismes plus efficaces pour encadrer la prévention et la réponse aux pandémies. Nous devons organiser un système qui ne repose pas uniquement sur la charité et où les moyens de lutte contre les épidémies sont répartis en fonction des besoins et non en fonction des richesses.

Das Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) hat sich gegen die vom Bundesfinanzministerium geforderten Kürzungsvorschläge für das eigene Budget gestellt. So hat es gestern nach Medieninformationen ein Budget von rund 12,2 Milliarden Euro eingereicht, etwa 2 Milliarden Euro mehr als die vom Finanzministerium geforderte Ausgabenobergrenze.
