“If one woman can make such an impact with a solar panel, what could a whole network of women accomplish?”

Solar Sister Entrepreneurs started with one inspiration story: a female farmer in Uganda, who grew a thriving business, helped raise her family’s standard of living, and built a school in her community after just one solar panel helped her run her farm more efficiently.

Today, Solar Sister Entrepreneurs has supported over 10,000 women to bring in independent income through solar energy. Their model improves not only a woman’s household income but also health, education, and a woman’s status and control over resources.

This creates a ripple effect impacting local women, their families, and the customers and communities who switch to using clean energy.

Angelina is one of those women. She is a pastoralist looking after her three young children, and now she is also an entrepreneur thanks to the support of Solar Sister Entrepreneurs. Angelina runs her own business selling solar-powered goods in her community and expanding her income.
