Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada has agreed to prioritize girls’ education, especially for those living in crises at this year’s G7 Summit in Charlevoix. He is considering a large new investment of approximately CAD$500mn towards this effort.
Prime Minister Trudeau and his team are reaching out to other G7 leaders to encourage them to commit to similar financial investments to truly show their support for this political declaration.
The goal is to secure a total of $1.3bn of new additional resources over three years, which will help to support 3.7 million children, particularly girls, living in crisis affected areas or on the move.
Girls like Fatuma Omar, who fled Somalia with her family and has been given a chance at a better life through education as a Health-Science university student in Toronto. Fatuma is urging G7 leaders to make sure that other girls like her can be given an opportunity to succeed.
It is not only Prime Minister Trudeau and Fatuma that can encourage others to take steps towards positive change, you can too.
