On the scale of politeness and do-gooders, we Canadians are at the top of the list. The world comments on our positive cumulative character traits all the time. But what does it really mean to be a ‘Good Canadian’? Let’s explore all the things you do that make your country proud.
.) You know the Canadian National Anthem. In French and English. We’re sure our Quebecers would be glad to see this make the list.

.) You smiled when our prime minister went to the Tragically Hip concert. How many other countries can say the same?
.) You welcome refugees with open arms. Canada just resettled over 25,000 Syrian refugees from November 2015 to February 2016. And we will continue to share with our new neighbors.
.) You appreciate the entire landscape of our country. From the mountains in BC to the sparkling lights of Vancouver and the fishes in the Prairie Provinces to the bustling city streets in Toronto, Canadians love it all. Image: Mountains - picture via @cosmic_pupil
.) You know that the environment matters. Canada recently formed a diverse, four-person panel to review its environmental and regulatory process, and will work locally with indigenous groups so their concerns are heard and understood.
.) You don’t mind the winter. And for us really good Canadians, we even look forward to it.
.) You keep pushing Canada to improve laws to protect animals. No country is perfect, and our citizens have made it clear that this issue is important.
.) You pay your taxes, and are thankful for that. Our government puts that money into amazing projects like the Global Fund. Thanks to us Good Canadians, $2.1 billion has been donated to this Fund since 2002, with another $785 million committed for the next three years.
.) You appreciate and respect our healthcare system. It has allowed a countless number of citizens to feel secure knowing they won’t be left in the dark when it comes to their health.
.) That maple leaf means everything to you. Whenever you see it, you swell with pride for this great country of ours.
