Millions of people saw the Global Citizen logo on Chris Martin's sleeve last night during the Super Bowl halftime show. It was a moment of global solidarity, a moment that broadcasted a commitment to help end extreme poverty around the world. Chris is the curator of the Global Citizen festival until 2030, when the Global Goals will be achieved, so he knows all about the issues that global citizens care about.

And it was this understanding that inspired perhaps the most Global Citizen part of the performance.

During the first song of the set, "Viva la Vida," Chris Martin crouched down, looked into the audience and said, "Wherever you are, we're in this together. Let's go."

Chris knows that the Global Goals can only be achieved if everyone unites. If everyone realizes that the problems facing the world today--climate change, hunger, conflict, gender inequality--can be overcome through cooperation.

It will be a difficult journey--but it is possible. The resources are there. Now the willpower just has to be summoned. Chris and fellow global citizen superstar Beyoncé have reason to be optimistic. Because when it comes to ending extreme poverty, we're all on the same team.

Don't be a bystander. Join Global Citizen. And if you liked what Chris was wearing on stage, here's your chance to get your own gear.
