In his new song God’s Plan, superstar rapper/singer Drake told the world, “I only love my bed and my momma.”

But it turns out the Toronto native seems to love something else, too:  education.

This week Drake surprised students at Miami Senior High School in Florida when he showed up on their campus to film a music video for his new hit song. Students went wild as cameras captured the musician singing to throngs of teenagers.

This wasn't the only surprise the students would receive from the “Six God,” who later announced that he would be donating brand new uniforms designed by his fashion label OVO, and $25,000 to the school.

In an interview with ABC News, one student told reporters that Drake’s donation demonstrated the singer’s generosity, and made him proud to attend Miami Senior.

“That showed a lot, you know,” he said. “That showed that our school is on the come up. It’s a good thing.”

Drake had one more surprise up his sleeve, at least for one student on the other side of town at the University of Miami. During a break in his filming, the international phenom traveled to the college campus to present one shocked first-generation student with a scholarship check worth $50,000.

This happened today. I applied to scholarships last year for which I had to write an essay. I received those scholarships and thought that was the end of it. Apparently, my essay and my story made it to other departments. I was contacted this weekend about doing a video speaking about where I come from, things I've been through, and why it is so important for scholarship donors to continue to donate. This was the surprise the whole time. Drake told me that he has read great things about me and appreciates how hard I've worked through so many trials and decided to give me $50K for my tuition. @champagnepapi THANK YOU SO MUCH!!' You don't understand what this means to me! I would've never imagined this happening to me. I'm just a girl from Denmark, SC that wants to MAKE IT and be somebody and for you to see my hard work means the world. Thank you so much. God I thank you. You are so great and amazing! Thank you for blessing me when I thought my hard work was going unnoticed. I'm living out my dreams. God's Plan 🙏🏾

Destiny James said that she was floored when Drake appeared at what she had been told would be a video shoot discussing the importance of scholarships.

“Drake told me that he has read great things about me and appreciates how hard I've worked through so many trials and decided to give me $50K for my tuition,” James said in an instagram post. “You don't understand what this means to me! I would've never imagined this happening to me.”

Drake now has one more thing in common with his Chicago contemporary, Chance the Rapper.

Chance has become a committed activist for education over the last few years, hosting teacher’s awards in Chicago, donating to public school systems, and supplying computers to students in impoverished areas.

Both artists seem to rightly value the importance of a quality education, though Drake made it clear he still remembers what it was like to be a kid.

“I hope you go on to do incredible things,” Drake told the students of Miami Senior just before he departed, “But the best news of the day, is that the bell’s about to ring, and school’s almost over.”
