The lineup is full-on Black excellence, and we’re beyond ready to watch Usher, Gyakie, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Stormzy, SZA, TEMS, and Uncle Waffles take to the stage to set an epic scene for an evening of action-taking and impact-making.
So you’re almost all set: you’ve got your ticket that you earned by taking action with Global Citizen, you’ve planned your outfit to a T, you’ve been texting your besties a countdown every day (because, naturally, they too earned their tickets and you’re planning on rolling in as a fierce action-taking squad) — but you’re still slightly unsure of a few things. What can you bring? What can't you bring? What time do you roll out?
Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with all the answers you need. Here’s everything you need to know about heading to Global Citizen Festival: Accra, and how to make the most of a moment that celebrates Global Citizen’s pan-Africa movement.
What Do I Need to Get Through the Gate?
You need your ticket of course! You can print your tickets out if you’d like, but you don’t need to. You can use a digital QR code or a physical printed ticket to enter the festival.
Wait, Don’t I Need a Matching ID at the Gate?
No, you don’t need a matching ID at the gate — however you will need a valid ID to purchase any alcohol available on-site.
Also, please note that all children under the age of 12 should be accompanied by an adult when attending the event.
What Does the Food and Drink Situation Look Like?
There will be food and drink vendors on site, and they will be accepting both cash and cards. You must be of age to purchase alcoholic beverages, so please bring your ID if you're planning on drinking alcohol.
You cannot bring your own food into the festival, so we suggest bringing money along with you if you want a snack and a drink.
We’ll also have water stations where you can fill up any reusable water bottle that you bring with you. The stations will be provided by Citi at no cost to you. Just make sure your bottle is not made of glass or metal, as those will be confiscated on sight.
Do I Need to Show Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination to Attend?
Following Ghana’s current guidelines, you will not be required to show any proof of vaccination to attend the festival. Wearing a mask is not required as it is an outdoor event, but it is encouraged. Global Citizen will closely monitor Ghana’s ongoing COVID-19 guidance and update this information accordingly.
What Time Should I Get There?
Get there early, trust us, there’s loads of great things you won’t want to miss out on as soon as the Black Star Square gates open.
You should get there at 2.30 p.m. to take advantage of a few goodies including an Uber promotion and the first 500 Global Citizens to arrive will get their hands on a free drink voucher AND a sweet Global Citizen bandana. So make sure you arrive with plenty of time to find parking, get through security, grab food, and catch every single minute of the show.

The show will go until around 11 p.m.
How Do I Get to Black Star Square?
Black Star Square is located on 28th February Road.
Your ticket will have a map of the venue, so make sure you refer to it if you need directions. If you are arriving by foot, you can access the venue from either direction and look out for signage for your entry gates.
If you are arriving by vehicle, we have dedicated parking zones accessible for general admission (GA) ticket holders from Starlets 91 Road. There will be signage to direct you where you need to be when you arrive. Parking is limited, getting there early is key to making sure you lock down a spot and have enough time to enjoy the show.
Where Are the Gates to Black Star Square?
The gate to Black Star Square is located on the 28th February Road. There are three main entry points, look out for the signs to the gate that are applicable to your ticket type.
Where Can I Find Accessibility Information for the Festival?
If you are granted access to the accessibility section, you’ll be given a wristband which you should keep on you at all times. This wristband will grant you access to the designated accessible seating area as well as nearby concessions. The wristband is non-transferable.
Chairs will be provided for those who require them only in the designated accessibility section.
Mobility devices such as wheelchairs, canes, and walkers are welcome at Global Citizen Festival: Accra but must be provided by attendees. Mobility devices will not be provided by Global Citizen.
What Shouldn’t I Bring to the Festival?
Glass bottles, plastic bottles with caps, metal cans, audiovisual material such as professional cameras, video cameras, recording devices, weapons, sharp or blunt objects, penknives and knives, selfie sticks, and a few other things. You can have a read of the entire list of prohibited items here.
What If My Phone Is Running Out of Juice?
We got you covered — there will be charging stations on site at the festival.
Let’s Talk Outfits, What Should I Wear?
Come dressed to be comfortable throughout the show, your safety and comfort are first and foremost. Bring appropriate rainwear for a possible change in weather during the day — and a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and whatever you need for the sun.
You can absolutely wear a bag, but keep it small. All backpacks or any bag that is larger than 30cm x 30cm x 15cm in size are not allowed inside the venue.
What Do I Need to Know About Leaving Black Star Square After the Show?
When you leave the venue after the show, there will be lighting from the Square to the parking area, and security will also be present to keep you safe. We advise you to leave in groups and not by yourself. Your Ubers can pick you up from the same places as for drop-off. As there will be a lot of people leaving the Square at the same time, expect to have to wait in traffic on the way out.
What Do I Do if There’s an Emergency?
For medical issues, there are medical tents on site staffed at all times. Please look out for signage on site or ask our security personnel for directions.
