If you couldn’t make it to the festival and missed the live show airing on MSNBC, you missed out.
But don’t fret — here’s the round-up of all the headliners at the Global Citizen Festival 2016.
MAJOR LAZER
Major Lazer heated up the stage with their set, performing “Cold Water” featuring MØ and “ Powerful” featuring Ellie Goulding.
DEMI LOVATO
Demi Lovato took the stage in sparkling silver shorts and matching crop top, belting hits like “Stone Cold,” “Cool For the Summer” and “Natural Woman” here, which she dedicated to those helping to uplift women and girls around the world.
METALLICA
The crowd went completely insane when Metallica came on and, whether you were a person who knew every word of each song, or just a few lines from your guitar-hero-playing days, there was no denying that these men are legends. “Enter Sandman,” “Master of Puppets,” “One,” “For Whom the Bell Tolls” and “Nothing Else Matters” brought everyone on the Great Lawn in Central Park to their feet.
Metallica's performance was dedicated to "those people who are like-minded and whose good intentions hopefully meet their intended destinies,” shouted James Hetfield, vocalist and guitarist.
KENDRICK LAMAR
Kendrick Lamar, always a fan favorite, spent time pointing out fans and thanking them for “rocking out with him since the beginning.” He rapped “Alright,” “King Kunta,” “m.A.A.d City,” and “I”, upping fangirls octaves a pitch higher to mere shrieks.
RIHANNA
And of course, the highly anticipated Rihanna closed the show.
“Please help your girl sing,” she asked the crowd, proceeding to belt Love on the Brain and other chart toppers like Birthday, Work, Take Care, Diamonds, and FourFiveSeconds. Rihanna, per usual, did not disappoint dancing and waving her hands around in a black and white pinstriped romper.
Good music, a good cause, and Central Park? The 2016 Global Citizen Festival was truly filled with unforgettable moments.
