Malala wins!

In a stunning show of global citizen excellence, Malala Yousafzai earned 68% of the vote in the championship round. Runner ups, Bill and Melinda Gates, were excellent competitors throughout, but fell short in the end (sounds remarkably like the University of North Carolina after they lost to Villanova last night in the actual NCAA Basketball tournament).

The young activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner’s path to victory was filled with strong global citizens from around the world.

All hail the 2016 Global Citizen March Madness champion: Malala!

Malala Yousafzai is a champion of education rights for girls and children around the world. Not only do her own humanitarian work and speeches shine as a beacon of hope for quality education to be provided to all, but she is incredibly persistent with her actions.

After being shot by the Taliban in 2012, Malala persisted in her campaign to fight for the right to free quality education for all, and took her activities global.

In 2014, she became the youngest person ever awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her humanitarian efforts on the rights for all girls and children to have an education, promoting peace by ending injustice for children.

Through her organization, Malala Fund, the young activist is currently fighting for education for 3.5 million Syrian children affected by the conflict in their country.
