Though we can all agree that this year has been challenging for all, and devastating for many, it’s clear that what has carried us through 2020 is the compassion and kindness of others.
This month, prominent WWE Superstars decided to honor the special people who have made their lives a little brighter this year, by taking part in Global Citizen’s #My2020Hero campaign — which calls on Global Citizens everywhere to honor those making a positive difference in their lives.
WWE Superstar Mojo Rawley first took to Twitter using the #My2020Hero hashtag to celebrate Chris Nikic, the first person with Down’s syndrome to complete an Ironman triathlon.
What followed was a moving string of tweets in which WWE Superstars and their fans celebrated one another.
Here are just a few of the tweets to warm your heart and encourage you to take part in this campaign to share the love.
Your #My2020Hero can be anyone, from your best friend to a complete stranger — and they could even be featured during Global Citizen Prize, an award ceremony hosted by John Legend that celebrates inspirational activists and leaders globally, and will broadcast and stream around the world from Dec. 19. You can find full global listings so you can tune in wherever you are, here.
1. It all started with a tweet from WWE Superstar Mojo Rawley...

2. The Special Olympics team then joined Rawley in celebrating Chris Nikic.
We are so excited to see that @MojoRawleyWWE has nominated Champion Ambassador @ChrisNikic as his #My2020Hero!

We 🧡 seeing how Chris's journey has inspired so many to conquer their goals by getting 1% better each day 💪 https://t.co/EGmIvQFGFT
3. Asuka chimed in to voice her support for photographers working with children with special needs.
#My2020Hero is @Sigma_Photo and the #NationalPrincessDay campaign. This image taught me the power of the camera and how an image can make people happy. @RealKeithLee who is your #My2020Hero? https://t.co/rApuys2lGt

4. And others quickly jumped on the bandwagon to honor those who helped them get through this year.
#My2020Hero is @WWEAsuka as for why well, shes taken time to interact with fans, listened to my PTSD story, inspired me to learn Japanese. She's been my hero because no matter how bad it is, she always gets back up again!

He oversaw my training and educated me. Showed me that my hunger for this was healthy.
Though he left earlier this year... I have every intention of doing right by him and everything he did for me. https://t.co/QAxKUjQd0bpic.twitter.com/glIZd4YOg7
Keith didn’t tag anyone (so polite) so I’ll just go right ahead. #My2020Hero is Keith Lee. You ruled this year, from champ-champ to beating Randy Orton @ Payback to showing the world more of you in the new WWE 24 special. When times are tough, I think about how you’ve endured. https://t.co/O9YzCAJUavpic.twitter.com/xCnEJFpwrs

I normally don't do this but I will tag myself in.#My2020Hero is Drew Gulak, because not only has he showed what he's truly capable of over the summer, but he was also a constant source of entertainment through his Twitch channel. And he's continued to show support for fanart. https://t.co/J7zKDZMYEtpic.twitter.com/Y8gNbbutdy

#My2020Hero is @KairiSaneWWE because throughout this year she's had a lot of highs and lows just like we all have but she's taught me to be strong in those tough times, to support the ones I love and to always stay positive and smile.

I appreciate Kairi so much for helping me. https://t.co/mNHeLBtWgGpic.twitter.com/aAgOgvEAPw
