In an increasingly interconnected world, more and more people are able to have the world at their fingertips. But what about having the world on the tops of your toes, as well?

Global Citizen and a multi-branded luxury sportswear showroom M5 believe this is possible.

This month, Global Citizen and M5 will unveil an exciting, new collaboration to produce a series of 10 limited-edition sneakers dedicated to bringing awareness to the fight to end extreme poverty around the world.

These sneakers will come in the form of bespoke Nike Air Force 1s that feature a map of the world on the outsole. The sneakers will be unveiled at Complexcon in Los Angeles on Nov. 4.

And Global Citizens will get a chance to win a pair for themselves.

The partnership between M5 and Global Citizen comes out of a shared belief in the values of “For Freedom, For Justice, For All,” that Global Citizens from around the world came together to celebrate this September in New York’s Central Park.

On Sept. 23, 60,000 Global Citizens lifted their voices in unison at the Global Citizen festival in New York, which featured performances from Stevie Wonder, Green Day, the Killers, and the Lumineers.

“Kicking off the week honoring Dr. King and ending with Stevie Wonder kneeling as an expression of his solidarity, left us with no choice but to do our part in the fashion world in continuing this campaign,” M5 founder Michael Burns said in a statement.

Michael Baquerizo, head of Special Projects at M5, echoed this sentiment.

“For freedom, for justice, for all simply represents equality for us at M5,” Baquerizo told Global Citizen. “We're a group of diverse people from many different backgrounds, and we come together to accomplish what we have to to get our job done. We don't dance around race, we embrace it and because it's easy for us we want it to be easier for everyone else as well.”

“We are not interested in the passive voice of change,” Baquerizo continued. “We want to use what we are good at to make a difference that starts from a young age and as it grows and matures, becomes an individual who is interested in taking a stand and becoming a soldier for a positive difference in the world.”
