While in Chicago on Friday, President Obama did something many eligible voters can do right now — he voted. Even though Election Day, Nov. 8, is still a few weeks ago, he stopped by the local board of elections office, filled out some forms ,and then made his way to a machine to cast his vote, while playfully shielding his ballot from prying eyes.

"You guys are doing a wonderful job. Appreciate ya," Obama said to the poll workers as he filled out paperwork, according to the pool report.

Obama even joked a bit with the staff, saying he was born in 1981. "Shaving just a couple of decades off," Obama said.

His choice for the 2016 presidential election was as simple as that.

For many people in the US, the choice can be that easy, too. Voting does not have to be difficult. If you're unable to vote on Election Day, some states have early voting periods. Check them out here. Some states are more accommodating than others, but, by law, there are provisions everywhere to ensure that your voice is heard. Be sure to check your local state's voting rules now, so you're ready to go Nov. 8. Learn about voter registration deadlines here.
