Election Day, November 8, is approaching and each state has different dates and regulations for you to register in person, online or by mail. And if you miss the deadline, there’s not do-overs or take-backs: you won’t be voting in this year’s federal, state, or local elections.

Alabama: Register in person, online or via mail by October 24.
Alaska: In person, online or via mail by October 9.
Arizona: In person, online or via mail by October 8.
Arkansas: In person or via mail by October 10. (You can’t register online here, folks!)
California: In person, online or via mail by October 24.
Colorado: By mail or online by October 31, but you can also register in person on election day.
Connecticut: In person, online or via mail by November 1. If you’re a new voter, or recently moved to the state you can register in person on Election Day.
Delaware: In person, online or via mail by October 15.
District of Columbia: In person, online or via mail by October 11, and you can also register in person on Election Day.
Florida: In person or via mail by October 11. Unfortunately, you can’t register online in this state.

Hawaii: By mail, October 8. Online and in person by October 10.
Idaho: In person or via mail by October 14. No registering online here.
