Today’s International Sloth Day, and rather than write another story about the US election, we’ve decided to celebrate this adorable, big-eyed creature. First, some fun facts:
Sloths live in Central and South America.
There are two types of sloths, and they're divided by their toes: some have two toes, and others have three toes.
Because of their long claws, walking on the ground is difficult. Instead, they hang out in trees. They even mate and give birth in trees!
Sloths were once the size of elephants!
Sloths kept in captivity sleep 15 to 20 hours a day. Sloths in the wild sleep as much as humans.
Sloths’ stomachs have four compartments that help them digest tough leaves and kill bacteria. It can take up to a month to digest one meal.
And now, enjoy some adorable photos and gifs of sloths. You’re welcome.
