When I think of the future, my inner geek comes out, and I envision flying cars, robots, and time travel. But when I compare my futurist ideas to Bill and Melinda Gates’ predictions for 2030, I become even more excited (and that’s saying something - who doesn’t want their very own R2-D2?). The philanthropists believe that by 2030, the world can see an end to extreme poverty (defined by Global Poverty Project as living below 1.50 a day). Through digital mobilization of people across the world, the activist pair are encouraging global citizens to become invested in increasing living standards for all people.
By mobilizing the world to have vested interest in increased living standards for all peoples, the Gates predict a more just and equal planet within the next fifteen years (become involved by registering at Global Citizen!). And these innovators know what they’re talking about having been at the forefront of funding various vanguard initiatives in SDGs") that will pick up where the last to-do list from 2000 left off (known as the Millennium Development Goals or "MDGs"). Then, in December, the UN Climate Change Conference will set new climate action targets, which are vital in combating climate change.
Join the movement by becoming a part of Action/2015. Action/2015 is a citizen’s movement of hundreds of organizations around the world demanding truly ambitious agreements on poverty, inequality and climate change in 2015. Global Citizen has joined the movement and we want you to be a part of it. Sign up to get involved!
