HOW TO WATCH:
The 2024 Global Citizen Festival will be broadcast and streamed to the world on Amazon Music, Amazon Music channel on Twitch, Apple Music and the Apple TV app, Brut, Facebook, iHeartRadio, TikTok, Veeps, YouTube, the Global Citizen app and www.globalcitizen.org. WHY:
Right now, too many developing countries are saddled by high-interest loans, forcing their governments to spend more on debt repayments than on the needs of their people, and pushing more people into extreme poverty. To alleviate that cycle, this year’s Global Citizen Festival campaign is supporting the replenishment of the World Bank’s fund that provides zero and low interest loans for 75 of the world’s lowest-income countries, known as IDA. We are calling on the world’s wealthiest countries to increase their contributions to IDA by at least 25 percent, which will support economic development for more than 1.5 billion people, including providing access to electricity for 250 million people across Africa by 2030.
HOW TO GET TICKETS:
Hosted by Global Citizen, the world’s leading international advocacy organization on a mission to end extreme poverty, tickets to the Global Citizen Festival are free and can be earned by taking action on the Global Citizen app or at globalcitizenfestival.com to defeat poverty, defend the planet and demand equity.
This Saturday, September 21, Global Citizen will mark the start of Climate Week with a beach clean-up, in partnership with the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy and supported by Goodera. Global citizens can earn free tickets to the festival by removing trash and marine debris from the shores of Jamaica Bay and documenting this year's 'Dirty Dozen' most common items found. The clean-up will be organized with assistance from the American Littoral Society's NY State Beach Cleanup Program, Black Surfing Association, and Surfrider NYC.
