Take Action

What you can do

TAKE ACTION TO

Protect Rainforests

The world's tropical rainforests are the lungs of our planets -- but they're being pushed to a point of no return. We need governments and the private sector to halt deforestation by 2030, including a $1 billion goal to protect the Amazon.

TAKE ACTION FOR

Renewable Energy

Without renewable energy for all, global climate goals are out of reach. We need to ensure governments, the private sector and public development banks deliver on the promise to triple renewable energy capacity by 2030.

TAKE ACTION FOR

Climate Justice

Climate justice demands that those responsible for the crisis support the hardest-hit communities. We’ll need to “make polluters pay” by demanding they contribute more to ensure communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis get the resources they need.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Global Citizen?

Global Citizen is the world's largest movement of action takers and impact makers dedicated to ending extreme poverty NOW. The voices of millions of Global Citizens around the world are driving lasting change towards sustainability, equality, and humanity by taking action every day.

We post, tweet, message, vote, sign, and call to inspire those who can make things happen to act — government leaders, businesses, philanthropists, artists, and citizens — together improving lives.

By downloading our app, Global Citizens learn about the systemic causes of extreme poverty, take action on those issues, and earn rewards with tickets to events, products, subscriptions, and more.

Global Citizens have taken over 33.5 million actions since 2009. Today, these actions, in combination with high-level advocacy work, have led to over $43.6 billion being distributed to our partners around the world, impacting 1.3 billion lives in the fight to end extreme poverty.

What is the Power Our Planet Campaign?

In 2023, Global Citizen brought together public and private sector leaders to launch Power Our Planet, which called for innovative climate finance to help those hardest hit by the climate crisis. The campaign culminated in a live event in Paris where Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank, and Mia Mottley, the Prime Minister of Barbados and Co-Chair of the Power Our Planet campaign announced the introduction of World Bank debt-pause clauses, providing much needed support to countries impacted by natural disasters.

While this was progress, the worsening climate crisis means the work is far from done. This is why Global Citizen is bringing Power Our Planet back.

Power our Planet is Global Citizen’s largest effort to defend the planet and protect the communities most impacted by climate change. It will be a year-long campaign of global action to and will kick off at Global Citizen Now: Rio de Janeiro alongside world leaders gathered for the G20 meeting in November 2024.

Next year Brazil will host COP30, the world’s annual climate conference. Set in the Amazon — the lungs and the heart of the Earth, home to over 30 million people, and a rainforest that resonates with communities across the world — this summit is a historic opportunity for leaders to chart a new course forward and meet the climate crisis head-on. To take advantage of this moment, the Power Our Planet campaign will culminate in Global Citizen Festival: Amazonia, Global Citizen’s first large-scale event in Latin America.

Throughout the entire year-long campaign we will align our global flagship events with new activations in Brazil and beyond to compel leaders to commit to significant policies and finance for nature and the planet. These efforts will galvanize the world’s attention on the climate crisis, drive millions of citizens to action, and provide a platform for historic commitments from governments and the private sector.

How can Global Citizens around the world get involved in Power Our Planet?

The climate crisis affects all of us, but it affects the world’s most fragile and vulnerable communities the most.

By taking action on Global Citizen’s platform, individual Global Citizens can fight the climate crisis and help end deforestation, increase renewable energy, stop the use of fossil fuels, and support people hardest hit by the climate crisis.

Stay tuned for more information on how to get involved! Make sure you’re following us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for the latest updates.
