The super rich 1% are fueling climate breakdown and inequality—pushing millions into poverty, hunger, and even early death. Every day, billionaires’ private jets and yachts pour more carbon into our skies than the average person emits in a lifetime. Their consumption is heating the planet beyond safe limits, making it harder to keep global warming below 1.5°C.
But as the super rich get richer and inequality spirals, they pay far less tax than most. If the richest billionaire households paid even a feather-light tax of between 1.7% and 3.5% we could raise over $2.1 trillion globally — funding vital health, education, and climate programs for those who need them most. As the G20 discusses a potential global minimum tax on billionaires, the stakes have never been higher. This tax could become a lifeline for billions and the planet alike.
We need leaders to act decisively. Tell G20 leaders: the time for tax justice is now. The climate can’t wait, and neither can we.
